Straight On Board Prevents Monster Pot

Apr 4, 2009

Two of the chip leaders, Hoyt Corkins and Joe Raposa, clash in a pot where the board reads [8h7c5s6d4h].  With a significant amount in the pot already, action slows on the river when the straight comes.  Raposa shows pocket tens while Hoyt shows pocket jacks.  With both Raposa and Corkins playing an overpair to the board, we could have seen a 400,000 pot if that river card didn’t freeze the action.  Instead, they chop the pot and both remain at the top of the leaderboard.

Hoyt Corkins – 190,000
Joe Raposa – 310,000
