How Early Is Too Early? You Be the Judge

Aaron Massey is not very happy with his tablemate Todd Terry this afternoon. He explains to the TV cameras why.

“This morning, at nine o’clock in the morning, you know who called me? Todd Terry. He called me because he needed to get some money from me before play began. Nine AM. Who does that?”

The table begins to chatter about exactly what happened and whether or not Terry’s behavior was out of line. Many at the table are on Massey’s side, even though this tournament did start at 11am rather than the standard noon starting time.

“He woke up my roommate,” Massey went on. “So then I had to deal with my angry roommate and then three minutes later Todd is knocking on our door.”

One fact that almost everyone found shocking was that Terry did not call Massey on his cell phone–he used the hotel phone.

“You know? The loud phone ring you haven’t heard since you lived with your ma when you were ten years old,” Massey describes.

Massey made one final point for his case, noting that Terry had an opportunity at 12:30am last night to pick up his money and didn’t. Most of the table seemed to side with Massey that poker ettiquette dictates no 9am phone calls, but given that Massey was doing most of the arguing while Terry remained relatively silent about the matter, perhaps there is even more to this already complex story. You be the judge.
