During the 2008 World Series of Poker it was a very diverse cast of characters that managed to make the Main Event final table. Chip leader Philipp Hilm busted out in ninth place, after which Jerry Yang took control of the event.
While Yang dominated the tournament it was South African Raymond Rahme who manouvered himself into third place. Rahme cashed for $3,048,025 and that is by far the biggest tournament result of a South African poker player.
Rahme leads the South African all-time money list by almost $2.5 million, as his closest competitors Jarred Solomon has about a million in cashes. Due to Rahme’s big score he became a well known figured in South African poker, and today’s he’s participating in the WPT National event.
