Tyler Patterson Wins the WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble

Tyler Patterson topped a final table that included Jake Schwartz, Ryan Dunn, Marvin “Duckman” Karlins, Stan Jablonski, and Ben Zamani on Tuesday night to win his first World Poker Tour title and the top prize worth $375,270. The WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble attracted a field of 412 players at bestbet Jacksonville, including a number of players with $2,500 bounties on their heads. Patterson was the final bounty player remaining, so he also won the Bounty Last Longer trophy and a bottle of Dom Perignon from bestbet Jacksonville. They started the final table by toasting with Patterson’s bottle of champagne, and it ended with Patterson toasting his victory. Patterson now has career tournament earnings of $2,061,163.

The first stretch of play was defined by double ups, as Jake Schwartz, Stan Jablonski, and Tyler Patterson all took a turn avoiding elimination. It wasn’t until Hand 85 that a player was eliminated. Schwartz was all in once again, and this time he held A-K against Patterson’s pocket queens. The board bricked out and Schwartz was eliminated in sixth place, good for $72,153.

One hand later, Ryan Dunn was the player at risk. He held K-Q but was dominated by the A-Q of Ben Zamani. The board brought no help for Dunn, and even gave Zamani the nut flush. Dunn was eliminated in fifth place and took home $90,057.

Just a few hands after that Marvin Karlins picked the wrong time to move all in preflop with pocket jacks during Hand 98. Patterson was waiting with pocket queens and the board missed them both. Karlins was eliminated in fourth place and took home $119,957 in prize money.

It was the 108th hand of play that saw Stan Jablonski take his last stand. He made it with A-5 but Patterson had him dominated with A-10 in the hole. Patterson flopped a ten and no help came for Jablonski, who was eliminated in third place, good for $162,210. Jablonski also picked up 700 Hublot WPT Player of the Year points for his deep finish, and as a nice consolation prize he took the lead in the POY race with 1,400 points overall. David Paredes is in second place with 1,200.

The chip stacks at the start of the heads-up final had Patterson out in front with 8,835,000, and Zamani trailing with 3,460,000. The heads-up final lasted 53 hands, but Patterson never relinquished his chip lead.

On the final hand (No. 162) Patterson raised to 255,000 on the button and Zamani moved all in out of the big blind for 2,455,000. Patterson took a minute in the tank and then called. Patterson showed  and was in the lead against Zamani’s .

The flop was and Zamani flopped an open-ended straight draw. He was looking for one of Patterson’s cards to make the nut straight, along with his pair outs. The turn was the and Patterson was one card away from a WPT title.

The river was the , keeping Patterson in the lead and eliminating Zamani in second place, good for $252,267. Patterson won his first WPT title, a Hublot watch, a seat into the WPT Tournament of Champions, and $375,270. Patterson also picked up an additional $2,500 for defending his own bounty.
