Steve Tada (pictured above with friends) topped a field of 208 players to win the WPTDeepStacks Central California Main Event on Sunday night at the Turlock Poker Room in Turlock, California. Tada was awarded $36,129 in prize money, the WPTDeepStacks trophy, and a $3,000 Championship package after winning a final day that clocked in at 10 hours of play.
Action was accelerated when the final three players decided to a three-way chip chop that gave Steve Tada $36,129, Mark Johnson $36,067, and Tim Weimer $29,638. They played it out for the trophy, remaining WPTDS Player of the Year points, and the $3,000 Championship package.
The final three players traded chips for a little bit after that, but then two quick hands brought the night to an end. Weimer fell with pocket fours when Tada spiked a flush on the river after the money went in preflop. On the first hand of heads-up play the money went all in on a flop reading . Johnson held and Tada was ahead with . The turn and river fell and that gave Tada the WPTDeepStacks title. Congratulations to our new champion – Steve Tada!
