MonteDam Swing Contender Paul Gresel Gets Shown a Bluff

One player we’re keeping an eye on here on Day 1B of the WPT Main Event is Dutchman Paul Gresel. Currently, he is the only player to have cashed in a tournament at the PokerStars Championship Monte Carlo, where he finished 80th in the Main Event, and here in Amsterdam where he finished 18th in the WPTDeepStacks earlier this week.

Therefore at the moment he is in the driving seat at the top of the MonteDam Swing leaderboard, although with Andreas Klatt making Day 2 of the Main Event yesterday, he’s got to work hard to try and catch him.

In this hand Estonian player Aaro Valkila opened from early position, the player in the cutoff called and Gresel three-bet to 1,700 from the button. Valkila then four-bet to 5,300, the cutoff folded and Gresel made the call.

On a flop Valkila continued for 5,500 and Gresel called. The turn was the and Valkila moved all in for 16,600. Gresel tanked before folding and his opponent showed .

“It was close,” said Gresel, who still sits on an above average stack as we approach the first break of the day.
