Hawkins Collects from Sommers

With the board showing , Lee Sommers leads with a bet of 2,300 — around half the pot — then Maurice Hawkins (pictured above) raises to 6,000.

Sommers goes deep into the tank, taking enough time to think about it to cause another player to call the clock. Before that happens Hawkins encourages Sommers to take his time, joking “I’m sure you’ll come up with the wrong decision.”

Sommers ends up calling before the countdown begins, and indeed it was the wrong choice as Hawkins shows  for a Broadway straight. He’s up around 45,000 now, while Sommers has 35,000.
