William Griffith on a Short Stack

Oct 3, 2017

William Griffith raises to 45,000 from the hijack and both Taylor Wilson (button) and Grigoriy Shvarts (big blind) call. The flop comes Diamond JSpade 8Spade K and when checked to Griffith bets 70,000 and only Shvarts calls.

Both remaining players check the Diamond A turn, then Shvarts leads for 250,000 and Griffith calls. Shvarts shows Diamond KDiamond 9 for a flush. Griffith’s hand is mucked quickly, though it appeared there might have been a king among his hole cards.

Down to just 108,000 shortly thereafter, Griffith was all in with Heart 8Heart 7 versus Casey Yontz’s Spade AClub 4, and the Spade 7Club 9Diamond AHeart QDiamond 8 board gives Griffith two pair on the river to survive. That earns a fist pump (see below), but Griffith is still very short.
