Christian Petre Knocks Out a Player with Pocket Aces to Take the Lead

Jun 8, 2018

Christian Petre

With the board showing Diamond JDiamond 8Club 4Club 6 on the turn and three players in the pot, Christian Petre moves all in from UTG+1, easily covering both players. The player in middle-position snap-calls all in for about 20,000, and the player on the button thinks for a bit before he folds Heart AHeart J face up.

The middle-position player shows Diamond 10Diamond 7 for a flush draw with a double-gutshot straight draw, including a gutshot straight-flush draw. Petre turns over Spade ADiamond A for an overpair, and the middle-position player needs to improve to catch a five, a nine, or any diamond to stay alive.

The river card is the Spade 7, and the pocket aces hold up for Petre to win the pot and eliminate his opponent. This pot propels Petre to 259K, enough for him to take the chip lead.
