In Hand #6 of hand-for-hand play on the Money bubble, Emanuele Carpignano is forced all in from the big blind, putting 10,000 in as the big blind ante, and his final 4,000 in as his big blind.
Carpignano is up against two other players — Michael Bailey and chipleader Mark Lampman. Carpignano claims that he hasn’t looked at his cards yet, and won’t look until the hand is over.
When the board reaches the turn, it shows and there is about 33,000 in the side pot between Lampman and Bailey. They put in another 10K each.
The river card is the , Lampman bets 40,000, and Bailey folds.
Once the action is complete on all of the other tables, Lampman shows for an ace-high straight.
Carpignano, who still hasn’t looked at his cards, says, “A straight? That’s it?” He then dramatically turns over his hand, seeing his own cards for the first time.
The small crowd that has gathered reacts with shock as Carpignano’s forced all-in ended up with him rivering trip fives, but it wasn’t enough as he still lost to Lampman’s straight. Carpignano is eliminated in 77th place as the unfortunate bubble finisher, while the remaining 76 players are all guaranteed at least CAD $6,834 each.
