Essa Survives

WPTDeepStacks Johannesburg 2018 Champion, Abdool Essa is down to just 5,700 chips and is sat under the gun. He moves the last of it in and Tianxiang Zhang, who is sat on his direct left, immediately moves all-in over the top for around 25,000. Everyone else moves aside and when the cards go over, they see they are off to the races.

The flop brings a flush draw to add to Essa’s overcards, leaving neither player a favourite at this point. The turn sees Zhang move into the lead but Essa finds help on the river. He lives to see another hand, whilst Zhang takes a small hit.
