Day 1A of the Season XVII WPT at Venetian has come to a conclusion with the approximate 223-entrant field reduced down to approximately 113 players.
Eric Worre (pictured) grabbed the chip lead on one of the last hands of the day when he eliminated Rep Porter and ended with an impressive 242,000 to hold the Day 1A chip lead heading into Day 2 on Sunday, March 24.
Worre is closely followed by Peter Hengsakul (217,000), Season XVII WPT Montreal Champion Patrick Serda (210,000), Zach Donovan (178,300), Cy Watson (160,000), Aaron Messmer (153,900), and Maria Ho (153,600). Plenty of WPT Champions Club members are still in contention as the likes of Jason Brin, Asher Conniff, Matt Salsberg, Jesse Sylvia, James Calderaro, Tony Dunst, J.C. Tran, and Frank Stepuchin. Also surviving into Day 2 is Season XVII WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic Champion Dylan Linde who is currently sitting in second-place on the Hublot WPT Player of the Year standings for Season XVII, as well as Ping Liu who is sitting in third-place overall.
A full recap of the day, along with a full list of chip counts will be posted later tonight.
