Season XVIII of WPTDeepStacks continued on Friday with Day 1B of WPTDeepStacks Hollywood. The second of three starting flights drew 417 entries and after 15 levels of action, just 88 players advanced to Day 2 on Sunday. Combined with the Day 1A numbers, there are currently 158 players remaining from the field size of 784 entries thus far.

Edwards Muñiz (pictured) topped the Day 1B flight, bagging a stack of 412,000. The Tampa Bay, Florida native had a memorable final level, doubling twice through Qasem Jamhour to go from a below-average stack to a chip-leading stack in just 15 minutes. First, Muñiz won a classic coin flip as his ace-king suited made a flush against Jamhour’s pocket tens. Shortly thereafter, it was set over set as Muñiz’s top set of kings bested Jamhour’s middle set of jacks. Had Jamhour won either pot, he’d have had twice as many chips as second place. Instead, Muñiz finished on top. Despite the setbacks, Jamhour still bagged an above-average stack of 207,000.

Others who bagged big stacks include Casey Carroll (305,000), Debra Hedgepeth (303,000), David Dibernardi (292,000) and Greg Levine (287,000).

Several WPTDeepStacks champions were in the field today, but none were able to survive as Kyle Kitagawa, Vitor Coelho and Dominick Sannino all fell. Among those who did find a bag were WPT Champions Club members Darryll Fish (196,000) and Sam Panzica (106,000), as well as Sheddy Siddiqui (170,000) and Jake Schwartz (105,000).

Day 1C is set to kick off at 11 a.m. Saturday morning and WPT.com will again provide updates on all of the action.
