Aces vs. Queens vs. Queens: Kelly Mayhugh Wins a Three-Way All-In; Robert Brown Down to Less Than a Small Blind

Apr 30, 2022

Kelly Mayhugh

There is a three-way all-in situation at Table 7, with Robert Brown (middle position) as the big stack with about 75,000, Kelly Mayhugh (UTG+1) just 500 behind, and the player in the cutoff as the shortest stack with about 50,000.

Here are their cards in descending order of chip counts:

Robert Brown:  Spade QDiamond Q
Kelly Mayhugh:  Diamond AClub A
Cutoff:  Heart QClub Q

The flop comes Spade ASpade KDiamond J, and Mayhugh flops a set of aces to his opponents’ gutshot straight draws.

The turn card is the Spade 4, and Brown picks up a spade flush draw for additional outs.

But the river card is the Heart 6, and Mayhugh wins the entire pot with his set of aces to double thru Brown and eliminate the player in the cutoff from the tournament.

Brown is left with a single blue (500) chip — only half of a small blind.

Kelly Mayhugh  –  205,000  (103 bb)
Robert Brown  –  500  (<1 bb) There was a similar situation earlier today, when Gennady Ruderman won a three-way all-in situation, with his X KX K holding up against two other players who had X QX Q and X QX Q.
