WSOP Champ Ryan Riess Eliminated by New Chipleader Frank Russo

Apr 13, 2014

With the board showing [Ad9d2c7c] on the turn, Frank Russo bets 40,000 from the cutoff, and reigning WSOP Main Event champion Ryan Riess tanks for a while on the button.

Riess looks at Russo and smiles as he asks, "Will you show me?" Russo silently shakes his head no, getting a small laugh from a couple of players.

After another couple moments, Riess moves all in for about 75,000, and Russo snap-calls with [Ac9c] for top two pair with the nut flush draw. Riess is reluctant to show his cards, but he turns over [Ah6h] for a pair of aces — he’s drawing dead.

The meaningless river card is the [9s], and Russo wins the pot with a full house, nines full of aces, to eliminate Riess from the tournament and take the chip lead.

Frank Russo  –  415,000  (259 bb)
Ryan Riess  –  Eliminated
