Oct 26, 2024

New record set for the WPT Prime Paris Championship Event

Even before the cards went in the air for the fifth and final starting day of the 2024 WPT Prime Paris €1,100 Championship Event, a new record attendance was essentially written in stone and confirmed once the first orbit in level one was completed inside of the Club Circus Paris.

The last chance for everyone to take a shot at making it to the money stages brought in another 168 entries to boost the overall attendance to 1,242 entries. This surpassed the 1,071 entries of the previous year by a significant margin and generated a prize p00l of €1,192,320 (~US $1,285,559).

Day 1a: 204 entries, 26 players advanced
Day 1b: 241 entries, 30 players advanced
Day 1c: 295 entries, 37 players advanced
Day 1d: 334 entries, 42 players advanced
Day 1e: 168 entries, 21 players advanced

Only one in eight entries throughout each of the five starting days notched up a cash prize and 156 players advanced to Day 2.

The final turbo heat featured a reduced level duration of 20 minutes each and reached level 20 when the bubble eventually burst. Massou Cohen lost two all-in confrontations with Conor O’Driscoll in quick succession and was the last player to leave empty-handed. Mateo Ciglar dominated the late stages and bagged up a top ten stack overall with 1,566,000, well ahead of second-placed Jordane Busquet (932,000).

Bubble-burster O’Driscoll finished in fourth place for the night with 563,000, while other notables to advance Mohamed Razab-Sekh (463,000), Philippe Barouk (376,000) and Alexandre Amiel (245,000).
