Soheil Shamseddin has been very active early, which has been a trend for him recently. At WPT Borgata, Shamseddin was eliminated in the first few minutes. He provided us with this information about his first 15 minutes today.
In the first hand of the day here at WPT Foxwoods, Shamseddin raised from middle position, and Jonathan Little called from late position. They played to a showdown on a board of K-9-4-9-x with about 6,000 in the pot, and Little won with A-K against Shamseddin’s Q-Q.
In the third hand of the day, Shamseddin raised under the gun, and Jonathan Little called from middle position. The flop came A-3-2 with two hearts, Shamseddin says he overbet the pot, and Little called. (Shamseddin says he put him on a flush draw.)
The turn was the [8d], and Shamseddin bet big again. Little called, and the river was an offsuit 5. The pot grew to about 16,000, and Little won at a showdown with [8h4h] — a flush draw that improved to a pair on the turn and a straight on the river. Shamseddin showed A-A for a flopped set of aces.
Jonathan Little – 45,000 (450 bb)
Soheil Shamseddin – 19,000 (190 bb)
The next hand (Hand #4), everyone folded to Shamseddin in the big blind, giving him a walk — and Shamseddin showed K-K. No action, but his big hands haven’t done well for him so far.
At this point, Carlos Mortensen takes the seat two to Shamseddin’s right, and Jeremy McLaughlin takes the seat to Shamseddin’s immediate left. Remember, play had only just started about 10 minutes earlier.
In Hand #5, Jonathan Little raised under the gun, Shamseddin called from the small blind, and McLaughlin called from the big blind. The flop came 5-3-2 rainbow, Shamseddin checked, McLaughlin bet 500, Little called, and Shamseddin check-raised to 2,000. McLaughlin called, and Little folded.
The turn card was the [8d], putting two diamonds on the board, and Shamseddin bet 5,000. McLaughlin moved all in, and Shamseddin called with [Ad4d] — a flopped five-high straight with a flush draw. McLaughlin turned over 9-9 for an overpair, and he was drawing dead. Shamseddin doubled up and took a big chunk out of McLaughlin’s stack.
Soheil Shamseddin – 39,500 (395 bb)
Jeremy McLaughlin – 10,000 (100 bb)
At that point, Shamseddin took a short break from the table to rest from his roller-coaster ride to get some coffee.
A few minutes later, Jeremy McLaughlin (middle position) was playing a pot against John Leontakianakos (small blind) on a board of [7s6h2dKs].
Leontakianakos asked McLaughlin how many chips he had behind (about 8,500) before betting 2,200. McLaughlin tanked, and Leontakianakos said, "Raise or fold." McLaughlin said those were the two options he was considering, and then asked, "Which would you prefer?" Leontakianakos said he was indifferent — he didn’t want to get sucked out on, so he’d take the pot now, but he could also use more chips.
McLaughlin folded [9c9d] face up, and then Leontakianakos turned over [KdKh] for top set. Jonathan Little looked at the set (McLaughlin was drawing dead) and said, "Hard to get sucked out on there."
Jeremy McLaughlin – 8,500 (85 bb)
