19 Remain in WPT Fallsview Poker Classic CAD $5,000 Main Event

Welcome back for the third and final day of the Season XVII WPT Fallsview Poker Classic. 19 players remain from the record-setting turnout of 602 entries that created a prize pool topping the CAD $2.7 million mark. CAD $517,424 of that total is reserved for first place and Garrett Dansereau (pictured) is in the best position to take down the score. Dansereau leads with 3.105 million and in the midst of his best career cash on the World Poker Tour.

Along with the first place haul, the winner earns a $15,000 seat into the Baccarat Crystal WPT Tournament of Champions. All remaining players have at least CAD $24,234 locked up entering Day 3.

Behind Dansereau are Andrew Pantling (2.845 million) and Brad Lampman (2.515 million). All three are looking to win their first WPT title. Pantling comes from a high stakes background and Lampman is a poker coach along with a professional player. Both of their respective pedigrees should play a role in their navigation through the remainder of the field.

Chanracy Khun is the only WPT Champions Club member left in the event. Khun won the Season XI WPT Barcelona title and sits in the middle of the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic pack with 1.265 million. The cash this week is Khun’s seventh on the World Poker Tour and a final table today would be his second. Of course, Khun’s second title would put him in the elite company of two-time WPT Champions.

Short-stacked but far from out of contention is Season XVII WPT bestbet Bounty Scramble runner-up Jake Schwartz. Down to just a single big blind near the end of Day 2, Schwartz enters Day 3 with 10 big blinds and a chance to reach his sixth career WPT final table. If Schwartz were to win the WPT Fallsview Poker Classic, he would surpass Ping Liu as the Hublot WPT Player of the Year points leader with 2,050 points. Liu cashed at Fallsview and has 1,900 points. As a result of the prize pool surpassing $2 million, there are 1,200 points up for grabs for whoever wins today.

Jason Sagle is another player to keep an eye on. Sagle placed second in the Season V WPT North American Poker Championships at Fallsview and is looking to top that result today. When the chips come out of the Day 3 bag, Sagle has 1.82 million to work with.
