A Gift for Berende

We were drawn to Table 17 to find Paul Berende stacking a huge pile of chips. We quizzed him on what had gone down and this is what we discovered.

Mahir Cakmak opened in early position and Berende called in the big blind. Berende then check-called bets on the [9c][8s][4h] flop and on the [3s] turn. The river was the [Qh] and Berende checked once more, Cakmak over-bet-shoved and Berende called with [As][Qd] and was shown [5d][2d] for five-high!

“I didn’t think he was overbetting with ace or kings. If he had jack-ten then it would be good game!”

Indeed it would Mr Berende, indeed it would. As it happens Berende is now armed with 220,000 chips!
