David Valdez raises under the gun to 28,000, Chuck Nguyen (pictured) moves all in from the cutoff for 86,000, and Valdez calls with . Nguyen turns over , and needs his hand to hold to stay alive.
The board comes , and Valdez pairs his queen on the flop to win the pot and eliminate Nguyen in 27th place.
David Valdez – 405,000 (34 bb)
Chuck Nguyen – Eliminated in 27th place* ($8,259.50*)
This was one of the worst runs we’ve seen in recent WPT history, as 45 minutes earlier, Nguyen was the chipleader with about 1.4 million in chips (117 big blinds). But those 45 minutes were brutal to Nguyen, and now he’s out of the tournament.
* Because Chuck Nguyen and WPT Champions Club member Kevin Eyster busted simultaneously at different tables, they chopped the combined prize money for 27th and 28th places.
