A Look Back at Beau Rivage

Beau Rivage first appeared on the WPT schedule during Season VI with the Gulf Coast Poker Championship. Bill Edler won that event, rallying back from just two antes during the late stages of play. He earned over $747,000 for his efforts and became the Beau Rivage’s first WPT champion.

The following season, the Southern Poker Championship replaced the Gulf Coast event on the schedule and Allen Carter defeated 282 other players to earn a cool $1 million. Last year, it was Alabama Cowboy Hoyt Corkins who ended up in the winner’s circle after besting a tough final table that included Jared Jaffee and Tyler Smith, who finished 6th in this event in Season VIII and 5th in Season VII.

All of these players are in attendance today for some Southern poker action and with hopes of returning to the televised final table.  In fact, Carter and Corkins (pictured above) are seated side by side for Day 1 of play.
