Photo: A.J. Jejelowo (left) and David Sands watch as the dealer puts out the river card.
A.J. Jejelowo raises from the cutoff to 55,000, and David Sands moves all in from the button for about 1.6 million with two relatively short stacks (Elvis Huyhn and Allen Carter) in the blinds.
Huyhn and Carter both fold, and Jejelowo thinks for a bit before he calls with [AsJc]. Sands turns over [8c8s], and Huynh will need to improve to stay alive.
The board comes [Qd9h2h2d5h], and the pocket eights hold up for David Sands to win the pot and eliminate A.J. Jejelowo in 14th place.
David Sands – 1,960,000
A.J. Jejelowo – Out in 14th Place ($47,430)
In back-to-back hands, David Sands went from 676,000 to nearly 2 million, doubling thru Dan Kelly before eliminating Jejelowo.
