Just when you think it can’t get anymore interesting, along comes Anaras Alekberovas to put the cat amongst the pigeons.
We didn’t catch the hand, but have been told that Alekberovas five-bet jammed in a hand against Yigit Aktulga in a pot that must have been in the region of 400,000. Aktulga had pocket aces thus making his decision relatively simple, meanwhile Alekberovas was forced to show the lowly pocket treys for the bluff. But never under-estimate the power of pocket treys, as Alekberovas flopped a third trey and rivered a fourth to send Aktulga straight to the bar for a stiff one.
