Andreas Klatt Fourth in Chips Ahead of WPT Main Event Day 3

May 11, 2017

Andreas Klatt
The whole poker world was enthralled at Andreas Klatt’s run of tournaments last week which saw him win the Monte Carlo National Championship, and follow it up just days later by finishing runner-up in the PokerStars Championship Main Event.

Now Klatt (pictured above) looks set to make another deep run, as he bagged 504,000, good enough for 4th in chips from the remaining 32 players. At the end of play, Klatt seemed non-plussed at his most recent accomplishment, remarking simply in German: “es läuft,” translated loosely as “it continues.”

With over 100 players coming resuming play today there were a whole host of big names in the field, as you can see in the video below.

The prizepool was also confirmed for this tournament here on Day 2. A min-cash in 28th place will earn players €4,425 ($4,823), while a spot at the final table secures them €15,255 ($16,628). However all players will be looking ever skyward towards the first prize of €152,600 ($166,334) as well as a €15,000 package to the Tournament of Champions.

The chip leader at this point is Shyngis Satubayen (570,500), closely followed by Brandon Mifsud (541,000) and Balazs Somodi (511,000).

Several players, including the aforementioned Klatt will be looking to secure an extra €1,000 for cashing in the WPT Main Event as part of the MonteDam Swing. Omar Lakhdari (148,000), Fabrice Soulier (61,500) and Louis Salter (464,500) all enjoyed success in the principality and all bagged up at the end of Day 2.

Claire Renaut (pictured above speaking with husband Fabrice S0ulier) bagged 102,000 after eliminating a player on the final hand of the night, and there’s still a lot of home interest in the field, with Noah Boeken (216,000), Wim Emo (107,500), Jorn Walthaus (307,500), Marcel Schouten (154,000) and 2016 Master Classics of Poker winner Hakim Zoufri (357,500) all representing the Dutch flag into Day 3.

Play resumes tomorrow at 2 p.m. with 32 players just four eliminations away from the money bubble.
