Three-handed play took a long time but over the course of 60 hands Anthony Maio saw his stack start to dwindle. The turn fell [9c] and Merulla checked. Maio bet 425,000 and Merulla tanked before moving all in. Maio quickly called all in with pocket queens but Merulla turned over [Ad6d] for a flopped flush. The river delivered the [8h] and Maio was eliminated in third place, good for $307,565.

Paredes held the chip lead at the start of heads-up play with 20,500,000 as he had the entire time at the final table beforehand. Merulla wasn’t too far behind with 16,175,000. Paredes pulled out ahead to start the final but Merulla doubled up to 22 million on Hand 124. On Hand 157 Paredes took his turn doubling up but he was still behind with 16 million. The third time all of the chips went into the middle the tournament came to an end.

On the 171st hand of play Paredes raised to 1.2 million preflop and Merulla called. The flop was dealt [Qc6c3s] and Merulla bet 900,000. Paredes raised to 2.3 million and Merulla reraised to 4.3 million. Paredes reraised all in for 12.3 million and Merulla called. Paredes held [Qs8c] but he ws behind the [Qd3d] of Merulla who flopped two pair. The turn and river fell [7d4d] and that was it for Paredes, who took home $499,549.
