Photo (Above): Matt Brady (left) watches as Steve Brecher (center) calls the all-in from Jeff Williams (right), who quickly turns over pocket kings.
Steve Brecher raises from the button to 90,000, Jeff Williams reraises from the small blind to 230,000, and Brecher calls.
The flop comes [Jd4d2c], Williams bets 315,000, Brecher bets 815,000, and Williams moves all in. Brecher thinks for a bit before he calls with [AcJh] (top pair, top kicker). But Williams turns over [KcKh] for an overpair.
The turn is the [8d], and Brecher gets up to leave, turning his back to the board. The river card is — the [Ah].
Everyone at the table reacts to the suckout, except for Brecher and Williams, who calmly accept the result.
Steve Brecher – 6,948,000 (173 bb)
Jeff Williams – 2,175,000 (54 bb)
It’s safe to say that this was the hand of the tournament to this point.
