Following two starting flights over two consecutive days of Season XVIII’s WPT Maryland Live! the field is down to 203 players with Brian Altman leading the way. Altman, the overall chip leader from flight 1A, lays claim to a monster stack of 307,800. Gansukh Sandagsuren’s 221,000 has a slight lead of Flight 1B’s Rajasekar Govindan’s 220,400 to round out the top three.
After eight levels of play today, the field was reduced to just 89 players surviving into Day 2. Rajesekar Govindan won a large pot on the last hand of the night to catapult into the chip lead.
Ken Adams, who bagged 200,900, had a consistent day. The D.C. native said, “I got really great cards and they held up. I had tens against kings and flopped quads, everything worked out well today.”
Others fortunate enough to earn a Day 2 berth include Joe McKeehen (153,600), and Lara Eisenberg (151,300). Elsewhere on the leaderboard, WPT Champions Club members Darren Elias (139,800), Aaron Van Blarcum (136,900), Anthony Zinno (112,200), hometown hero Tony Gregg (88,300), Frank Stepuchin (63,500), and Olivier Busquet (16,500) all survived into Day 2 alongside WPT Player of the Year Mukul Pahuja (53,700).
Players that were not fortunate enough to make it through to Day 2 include Farid Jattin, Justin Liberto, Joe Cashen, Jean Gaspard, Jane Hitchcock, Ray Qartomy, WPT Champions Club member Mike Linster, and defending champion Tony Roberto.
With these names on the rail, it’s on to Day 2 continued at the Live! Casino & Hotel in Hanover, Maryland. Everyone eliminated throughout the course of Day 1A & B will all have the chance to return to try their luck on Day 2 on Monday, September 30.
