A player raises under the gun to 10,500, Matthew Berkey calls from the small blind, and Layne Flack moves all in from the big blind for 33,500. The first player folds, and Berkey calls with [AcKd]. Flack turns over [JdJs], and it’s a race situation with Flack in jeopardy. (This is the first year in about a decade that Flack is not a Shooting Star, so there is no bounty at stake.)
The board comes [Qc10s2s4hKh], and Berkey pairs his king on the river to win the pot. Layne Flack is the unfortunate bubble boy. Flack did collect three bounties, however, eliminating Jerry Yang, McLean Karr, and Yevgeniy Timoshenko, so he actually earned the same $15,000 ($5,000 each for the bounties) that the top 45 are guaranteed.
Matthew Berkey – 385,000
Layne Flack – Eliminated
