Carter Gill raises to 2,000 from under-the-gun and is called by a player in early position, Darryll Fish in middle position, the button and both the small blind and big blind.
The flop is 663 and Gill bets 5,500. The button calls and everybody else gets out of the way. The turn is the 7 and both players check. The river is the A and Gill bets 8,000. The button takes a few moments and then folds. After a little egging on from the table, Gill shows J9 and takes the pot with jack-high.
“I thought I had two spades,” joked Gill. “I checked like three times.”
