ClubWPT's Amy Barish Continues Her Deep Run

Dec 8, 2013

ClubWPT Amy Barish
In a field stacked with big-name pros, ClubWPT.com qualifier Amy Barish is more than holding her own with an above-average stack as the field nears the money.

Before this tournament began, Barish mentioned several goals for her trip to Las Vegas to play in this event.

1.  Barish wanted to meet her favorite poker player, Daniel Negreanu. Mission accomplished, as she chatted with him for a couple minutes during a break on Day 1. (Click here for the Day 1 update about Barish and Negreanu.)

2.   Barish also wanted to meet WPT Commentators Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten. Van Patten won’t be in town until Tuesday, but yesterday (on Day 2), she found herself seated across the table from Poker Hall of Famer Mike Sexton. It’s one thing to meet a poker idol; it’s something else entirely to play against them in a $10,000 buy-in World Poker Tour event. (Click here for the Day 2 update about Barish and Sexton.)

3.  Barish wants to become the first female to win an open WPT title.

That third goal will obviously be the most difficult, but as the field gets closer and closer to the Money Bubble, Barish continues to hold her own with an above-average chip stack. She’s currently seated between Joseph Cheong (pictured above, left) and WPT Champions Club member Nam Le (right), but the situation has made her nervous, she isn’t showing it.

There is still a long way to go, as the Money Bubble will likely burst at the end of the day today or fairly early tomorrow, and the televised WPT Final Table isn’t until Wednesday.

But so far, Barish hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down. Good luck!
