Last year Davor Dadic managed to take down the WPT National Johannesburg Main Event for $93,966, and as of right now he’s in the driver seat for a repeat.
Dadic just managed to grab the chip lead after he had just 45,000 chips 30 minutes ago.
The action started with a raise to 9,000 and Ryan Cornell made it 17,500. From his immediate left it was Davor Dadic who four-bet to 38,000 and only Cornell called.
The flop came down KJ8 and both players opted to check. The turn was the 2 and Cornell checked again after which Dadic bet 45,000.
Cornell made the call and on the river the Q hit. Cornell checked a third time and Dadic pulled the trigger by moving all in for 94,300. After a long time Cornell called and Dadic slammed QQ onto the table. Cornell showed his AK and his hand ended up in the muck.
Dadic had just raked in the biggest pot of the tournament and he sits on 358,000 chips right now, while Cornell was left with 22,000 chips.
