The cash games that run at the Commerce Casino during the L.A. Poker Classic are renowned for being lucrative. How lucrative? Well, WPT Champions Club member Daniel Alaei plays in some of the biggest games around, and he abandoned his stack a couple levels ago — to go downstairs and play in the cash games.
Alaei had been up to about 100K when he lost a 135K pot, all in after a 10-high flop. According to Allen Kessler (sitting at the same table), Alaei had K-10 for a pair of tens, and he was up against an ace-high flush draw. Unfortunately for Alaei, an ace hit the turn, and he lost the pot.
That knocked Alaei down to about 35,000 a couple hours ago, and that was when he decided to play cash instead. When Ray Henson asked him if he’d like to receive text updates on his stack, Alaei said not to bother. Alaei simply felt the cash games were so good right now, that he had a higher expected return down there than he does up here with a 35,000 stack.
It took a while for Alaei’s stack to completely blind out, but it finally happened a short while ago.
Good luck in the cash games, Daniel!
