Daniel Pastor Runaway Chip Leader

May 6, 2017

Daniel Pastor
Yesterday’s chipleader Johan Strijbis bagged up 168,700 last night to top the chip counts after Day 1A, but he may well have a competitor vying for the title of overall chipleader come Day 2.

Step forward Daniel Pastor, who is currently sitting with around 165,000 with more than four levels left in the day with which to improve on the figure. Such is the extent of his chiplead, the only person who comes close is Juha Helppi with just over 130,000.

Helppi made it to the end of Day 1A last night, but bagged a paltry 800 chips, telling tournament staff that he would back tomorrow, and vowing to get a bigger stack. It looks like his wish was granted.

The tournament clock currently shows 89 players left from the 124 that started the day, as the clock ticks over into Level 9. This is the last level for players to enter/re-enter the tournament, and we will then be able to give you clearer figures on the total number of entrants in the WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam. Stay tuned!
