David Daneshgar, who was crippled in an early hand, let himself be blinded off until he was forced all in from under the gun with his last 500 in the ante.
Nenad Medic raises from middle position to 11,500, and Dan Lu calls from late position. The flop comes [Kd3c2c], and both players check the side pot. The turn card is the [3h], Medic bets 16,500, and Dan Lu calls. The river card is the [8h], and both players check.
Dan Lu shows [Ac4s] to win the side pot with ace high, and Medic mucks. But Daneshgar shows [Qh3d] to win the pot with trip threes, octupling up to 4,000.
The money bubble burst at another table during this hand. Daneshgar asked TD Matt Savage if he could just forfeit and be paid his $23,052 tonight rather than return tomorrow with 4,000 in the big blind. Savage said no way; Daneshgar’s chip stack will be back in play at noon tomorrow, with or without him, and Daneshgar won’t be paid until he (or his empty chair) busts.
Dan Lu – 500,000
David Daneshgar – 4,000
