Day 1 of the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic comes to an end with 368 players remaining from a field of 519 entries, and Robin Hegele (pictured) leads the pack with 183,000 (458 big blinds).
Registration remains open with unlimited re-entries until the beginning of Level 9 (about 5:15 pm tomorrow). Last year’s field was 639, and the record for this event is 664 in 2007; this year’s field is on a clear pace to beat last year’s, with a shot at breaking the record. The total prizepool has already reached $5 million, and it will continue to grow with the field tomorrow.
The full list of official chip counts and Day 2 seating assignments should be released by the tournament staff in the morning. Until then, here is the top of the leaderboard from the end of the day, with everyone who bagged at least 100K in chips:
