Welcome back to the Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, for Day 2 of the Season XVIII WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
Day 1 saw a total of 705 entrants take to the felt to keep the event on pace to break last year’s record-setting 1,001-entrant field as 697 entrants was the benchmark set in Season XVII. Of those 705 entrants, only 417 players survived into Day 2 after eight levels of play, but the registration and re-entry period remains open through to the start of Level 12; approximately 5:15 p.m. (PT).
Leading the players into Day 2 is Gainesville, Florida’s, Toby Boas who finished the day with 280,400 in chips. Boas has four cashes on the WPT – with three of those coming on the WPTDeepStacks – and if he can build off his hot start, he’ll be looking to collect his second WPT Main Tour cash to his poker resume that includes over $589,000 in lifetime tournament earnings.
Sitting on the heels of Boas are eight players over the 200,000-chip mark. Dominique Mosley (262,000), Stoyan Obreshkov (260,000), Mike Vanier (235,300), Jake Daniels (227,500), WPT Champions Club member Jonathan Jaffe (226,400), WPTDeepStacks champion Maria Ho (207,500), Simon Deadman (206,000), and David McGowan (201,800) fill out the top chip counts.
A plethora of WPT Champions Club members remain, and six of those are previous winners of this event as defending champion Dylan Linde, along with Joe Hachem, Dan Smith, Mohsin Charania, James Romero, and Ryan Tosoc all still remain in contention. Other previous champions to take part in this event but fall to the rail include Antonio Esfandiari and Daniel Negreanu, and with the re-entry period still open, it is expected that they will return, along with the majority of others that were eliminated on Day 1 as well as players yet to play their first bullet.

Day 2 will see levels extended to 90-minutes in duration, and there will be just five levels of play today with a 15-minute break after every level. Everyone eliminated throughout the course of Day 1 will all have the chance to return to try their luck on Day 2 as the registration and re-entry period remains open through to the start of Level 12; approximately 5:15 p.m. (PT).
