Photo: Actress Jennifer Tilly (left) finished the day fourth in chips, and she played Day 1 seated next to defending WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic champion Kevin Eyster (right).
There were 519 entries on Day 1 of the WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic, and 368 of them survived to Day 2, which begins today at 12:00 noon PT.
Registration remains open with unlimited re-entries until the beginning of Level 9 (about 5:15 pm), and this year’s event is on a pace to beat last year’s field size of 639. The total prizepool is already worth more than $5 million, and it will continue to grow as more players enter today.
The Day 1 chipleader is Robin Hegele, who finished the day with 183,000 (458 big blinds). Coincidentally, one of the players he eliminated was Academy Award-nominated actress Jennifer Tilly, who re-entered and also managed to finish the day among the top five in chip counts.
1. Robin Hegele – 183,000 (458 bb)
2. Lucas Blanco Oliver – 139,325 (348 bb)
3. Andjelko Andrejevic – 136,400 (341 bb)
4. Jennifer Tilly – 134,225 (336 bb)
5. Chris Wiemers – 121,000 (302 bb)
Day 2 begins at 12:00 noon PT, and the field will once again play five 90-minute levels with no dinner break. Registration remains open with unlimited re-entries until the start of Level 9, around 5:15 pm, and action should end around 8:45 pm.
