Bodo Sbrzesny is first to act inform his seat in the cutoff and he opens the betting with his standard 2x the big blind raise – 12,000 in total. Dutchman Rien De Vries puts up some resistance with a three-bet to 34,000 in the big blind. Sbrzesny asks for confirmation of how many chips De Vries has behind – around 400,000 – before calling.
The [Kc][Js][5d] flop is greeted with a 46,000 continuation bet from De Vries and a call from Sbrzesny. The pot is already bigger than some of the other players’ stacks! The [Ts] turn sees De Vries make it 107,000 to play and again Sbrzesny calls. Wow, this sucker is huge!
The [Ah] falls on the river and De Vries checks. Sbrzesny can’t quite bring himself to pull the trigger and he checks behind.
De Vries reveals [Td][Tc] and Sbrzesny looks extremely frustrated. He mucks, but does so in a manner that De Vries sees Sbrzesny held [Ax][Kx].
Sbrzesny is down to 250,000 chips while De Vries is up to 630,000.
