Delval Leads; Benaissa Catches Up

Sep 28, 2018

Sofian Benaissa

Joining the action on the Heart KHeart 7Spade 5 flop, Sofian Benaissa check-raises from 1,500 to 6,000 and his sole remaining opponent calls. The Club 8 on the turn gets checked through and Benaissa check-calls the Diamond Q on the river for 8,000.

His opponent shows Heart ADiamond J for a bluff gone wrong, which Benaissa has beat with the Club ASpade K.

“You just called?” another player at the table asked and Benaissa nodded, replied with a “he could have had king-queen.”

While Benaissa’s stack of almost two times the average is already impressive, it is not the biggest at the table. That honor belongs to Frenchman Frederic Delval, who has two times as many chips as Benaissa. Delval confirmed that he previously knocked out two players when he held up with pocket kings versus ace-ten and ace-jack. Among those two casualties was Amelie Bauvois, who is no longer seated.

Frederic Delval – 180,000
Sofian Benaissa – 94,000
Amelie Bauvois – Eliminated
