Dermot Blain is falling in love with pocket jacks and they are doing him proud. We just reported on a hand where the Irishman hit top set, holding pocket jacks, to crippled Zoltan Szabo. Well he has only gone and done it again, this time under far more exciting circumstances.
We didn’t see the action, but arrived to see three people turning their cards over in a three way all-in: Julian Herold, Zolton Szabo and Blain.
Showdown
Blain: [Jh] [Jc]
Herold: [Kh] [Kd]
Szabo: [3x] [3x]
Herold started the hand with about 140,000, Szabo 32,000 and Blain with both players covered. The flop is the [8s] [6c] [4h] and Herold looks likely to double up. Then the dealer springs the surprise. The [Jd] hitting the turn to put Blain into an unlikely lead. The [Ts] on the river ends the action, and Blain has once again cracked pocket kings with pocket jacks in little under fifteen minutes. To make the feat even more impressive, Shannon Shorr told Blain that he folded a jack, meaning Blain only had a 5% chance of winning the hand going into the turn with Herold a 74% favourite (Szabo taking the other 8%).
