Did Things Work Out The Same for Jason Deutsch?

After action before him, Jason Deutsch reraises to 1,800 from the the hijack and Victor Ramdin four-bets to 5,100 from the small blind. Action comes back around to Deutsch and he thinks for over a minute.

Once Deutsch decides on an action, he pulls back his 1,800 in chips and silently replaces them with two 5,000 chips, intending to raise to 10,000.  Larry Berg, a former Bellagio dealer who is also seated at the table, points out that this action is a call. 

For those who may not know, since Deutsch put out two of the same denomination oversized chips, it is a call.  Per TDA rules, if one of the chips can be removed from the pot and the amount left is less than a call, then the bet is a call, unless the player verbally specifies they are raising before putting chips in the pot.

A floor person is called over to the table and confirms that Deutsch has called and action continues to a [Jh4h2c] flop.  Ramdin checks and Deutsch bets 3,000.  Ramdin doesn’t think too long, then folds.

As Deutsch rakes in the pot, he comments, "It worked out the same, I guess," referring to the outcome of the hand.

Berg disagrees.  "Nah, he wasn’t folding preflop."  Ramdin, on the other hand, doesn’t say anything about what he would do had the situation changed.
