Dinner Break for the High Rollers

Sep 27, 2018

While Day 1A of the Main Event in Marrakech shows 103 players out of 142 entries remaining in level six with the upcoming dinner break at the end of the level, the 20,000 MAD High Roller has already sent its players into a 60-minute dinner break.

In one of the last hands at the tables, Argentina’s Pedro Cairat was put in a tough spot by Muhyedine Fares. The board shows Diamond ASpade KDiamond 9Heart 2 and, with 70,000 in the pot at blinds of 3,000/6,000/6,000, Cairat faces the shove of Fares with around 110,000 behind. The Argentinian tanks five minutes into the dinner break and elects to fold.

Imad Derwiche, who checked over from the Main Event after busting the High Roller, said on the rail “he will fold, they always do when thinking for such a long time,” and was right with his prediction.

The High Rollers are now on break with 26 players out of 157 entries remaining and the money bubble is looming as just 20 spots get paid. The two current chip leaders are Spain’s Jon Ander Martinez and Clement Delacroix.
