As we mentioned earlier, this tournament is named after Doyle Brunson — the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic. Brunson was one of the last players to enter the tournament, and when he received his starting stack of 40,000, it was only worth 33 big blinds.
But in his first hour of play, Brunson quickly grew his stack to 209 big blinds.
The biggest pot for Brunson was a preflop all-in situation against Matt Keikoan. Keikoan had [KcKd], but Brunson was all in for about 120,000 with [AcAd]. The board came [9c4d3d7d5s], and Brunson’s aces held up for him to double up in chips.
Doyle Brunson – 251,000
Matt Keikoan – 90,000
