Drinking Contest Leads to a Double Up For Cory Zeidman

Apr 12, 2013

For some reason, Brian Hastings and Cory Zeidman were competing in a quick drinking contest (possibly arranged by Shaun Deeb), to see who could chug a cup of beer faster. But just as the waitress brought their drinks over, another hand was dealt.

Zeidman looks at his cards and says, "Time out so I can play this hand."

Zeidman raises from middle position, and Ivan Schertzer calls from the hijack. The flop comes [7h5s4c], and after some betting, Zeidman is all in with [JdJs] (overpair) against Schertzer’s [5d5h] (set of fives). Zeidman will need to improve to stay alive.

Zeidman takes a quick break to finish the drinking game, and he and Hastings quickly chug their beers. Shaun Deeb judges Zeidman to have finished more quickly for the victory.

With the drinking contest complete, the dealer runs out the rest of the board, with the [Qc] on the turn, and the [Jh] on the river. Zeidman rivers a higher set to win the pot and double up.

Zeidman declares victory by loudly saying, "More beer please!"
