Edward Arnold Out in 18th; Kevin MacPhee Triples Up

Nov 25, 2014

Edward Arnold

In the last hand of the previous level, Maduka Meragal limps UTG+1 for 20,000, and Ratharam Sivagnanam raises from middle position to 65,000. Kevin MacPhee (pictured below) calls from the hijack, Edward Arnold (pictured above) calls from the small blind, and Meragal calls as well.

The flop comes Jclub8club6spade, and Arnold moves all in for 348,000. Meragal folds, and Sivagnanam moves all in over the top for more than 2 million. MacPhee snap-calls all in for 480,000.

Here are their cards in descending order of chip counts:

Ratharam Sivagnanam:  6diamond6heart
Kevin MacPhee:  8heart8spade
Edward Arnold:  7club7heart

Macphee leads with a set of eights over Sivagnanam’s set of sixes, and he needs it to hold to stay alive. Arnold needs something runner-runner to stay alive.

The turn card is the 7spade, giving all three players a set, and Arnold a single out to stay alive.

The river card is the [2d[, and MacPhee wins the pot with his set of eights to double thru Sivagnanam and eliminate Arnold from the tournament.

Kevin MacPhee  –  1,615,000  (67 bb)
Ratharam Sivagnanam  –  1,920,000  (80 bb)
Edward Arnold  –  Eliminated in 18th Place  (CAD $22,960)
