Englishman Daniel Carter on Being a Dutch National Champion

May 5, 2017

You might consider Daniel Carter (pictured above) an honorary Dutchman. Although he was born and lives in England, he’s spent a lot of time here and won the Dutch Open as part of the Dutch Poker Series last December for €41,111.

“I was given a wild-card to the Dutch Open,” he said during the final break of the day, “You have to have won a certain event to get entry.

“In November the year before I won an 8-Max Event at the Master Classics of Poker, so they gave me a wild-card. Winning a poker tournament is a great feeling, especially when you don’t play much live tournaments.

“I try to play the circuit here in the Netherlands. It’s good fun.”

Carter, who has $2 million in online earnings according to the Hendon Mob, will be looking to make it a hat-trick of tournament wins here in the Netherlands if he goes on to take down the WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam title.
