After starting the day with 86,000 chips, Faraz Jaka is now the chip leader. How does one go from being below average to chip leader in the span of an hour? Well, knocking out three people certainly helped.
In the past twenty minutes or so, Jaka has disposed of Joe Beevers, Ian Woodley and Kevin Schaffel, building his stack up to 490,000 in the process.
In addition to accumulating a big stack, Jaka has also dispensed with one of the players who could catch him in the Player of the Year race. Schaffel finished in 2nd place at the Legends of Poker event early in the season and could have caught up with Jaka in the points race with a 3rd place showing or better. Now Jaka has one less player to worry about and one powerful pile of chips.
After busting Woodley, former chip leader Shawn Buchanan couldn’t help but quip, "Oh great, this is gonna be a lot of fun now."
"I was motivated this morning," Jaka responded. "I saw you with all those chips and thought it would be fun to catch up with you."
