The first day of the partypoker World Poker Tour Main Event in Vienna drew a crowd of 67 players and none other than German poker super star Fedor Holz leads the way with a staggering 182,500-chip stack. Just 39 players managed to surive the first starting day and many of those who got knocked out are expected to re-enter on Day 1b.
On the first day of this event we saw plenty of good action, most of which coming from the man who bagged up the chip lead. Holz was involved in most of the important pots, in one of which he made a great call with king high, and in another he got his opponent to bluff it all away with a pair of eights against his kings.
Players that weren’t so lucky on Day 1a included former WPT National winner Vladimir Bozinovic, WSOP bracelet winner Isaac Hagerling and Simeon Naydenov and French Player of the Year Erwann Pecheux. These guys we’ll likely see again on Day 1b just as Vladimir Troyanovskiy who busted out towards the end of the day.
From the players that advanced the most notable stacks are with Gerald Karlic (100,000), Michel Abecassis (71,600) and Gaelle Baumann (53,000). Others that survived include PCA winner Dimitar Danchev (15,600), Thomas Mueloecker (24,500) and WSOP Main Event runner up Martin Staszko (28,600).
The second starting day will start at 2:00 p.m. CET and has eight levels. Players who are not satisfied with their stack on Day 1a can also re-enter on Day 1b and advance with whatever stack ended up the biggest.
