After three full days of play Fedor Holz leads the way heading into the penultimate day. After Day 1 Holz was in first place, after Day 2 he was in second place and he looks to continue his good fortune tomorrow as we will play down to the Final 6.
Holz ended the night on 909,000 and Josef Klinger, Austria’s all-time money list leader, sits in second with 804,000 chips. Klinger was the Day 1b chip leader and notched up his first live tournament cash here in almost five years. In third place we’ve found the last remaining WPT Champions Club member with Thomas Bichon who won WPT Cyprus back in 2009.
Other players that are still in contention include EPT winners Frederik Jensen (192,000) and Sotirios Koutoupas (152,000) and Master Classics of Poker champion David Boyaciyan (125,000).
Among the players that weren’t as fortunte we saw WSOP bracelet winner Nikolaus Teichert, Maximilian Senft and Jan Bendik, all of whom went home empty-handed.
The bubble burst on Day 3 after two hours of hand-for-hand play, and ultimately it was Robert Schulz who got to call himself the bubble boy. Shortly after the bubble burst we lost Stefan Jedlicka and PCA winner Dimitar Danchev, followed by a string of players that included Austria’s number 3, Erich Kollmann.
Tomorrow’s Final 17 are guaranteed to take home at least $7,924, but surviving another day would mean a guaranteed payout of $30,964. Just six players will make Day 5 and you should tune back in tomorrow to find out who will be a part of it.
