Much of the news surrounding the WPT Rolling Thunder final table centers around whether Erkut Yilmaz can make it back-to-back titles at the event. However, some new players to the WPT scene will also be looking for their first title. Germany’s Robert Heidorn (pictured) will be looking for his own winner’s celebration.
Heidorn, 32, is originally from Berlin and now calls London home. His two previous tour cashes came in Season XV at the partypoker UK event and in Season XIV at partypoker Prague. WPT Rolling Thunder becomes his first WPT final table and first cash in the U.S. He now plans on possibly playing more tour events in the coming months after enjoying his experience.
“I was in the region so I decided to play LAPC and then come here as well,” he says. “I’ll probably play a little bit more. Everything’s going to be really spontaneous though, so I’ll see what I feel like.
“It’s been really fun. I love the tournament. The structure was really fun. I love that it’s eight-max [Day 2] and then six-handed, so there was really a lot of action and quick-paced. I think it’s a really good format.”
Back in Europe, he plays poker full-time in a live setting and online. In total, Heidorn has more than $2.2 million in live tournament winnings. In 2019 he made a deep run in the $10,000 World Series of Poker Main Event – finishing 10th for $800,000, the biggest cash of his career.
When not playing cards he enjoys traveling, sports, and hanging out with friends.
Entering the final table third in chips, Heidorn will be looking to add his name to the WPT Champions Cup and believes it will be the most important win of his career so far.
“I don’t really have a big title yet,” he says, “so I would love to win one of these.”
